When Healing Becomes Heresy:
The Struggle for Medical Freedom in a Pandemic Era
A Message from Dr. McMillan
The medical profession has strayed from its core mission of healing, becoming more focused on following prescribed protocols that can sometimes prioritize financial gain over patient benefit. This shift has not gone unnoticed by the public, who often express frustration at doctors' perceived inaction to advocate on their behalf. I don't know if people realize just how much of a sacrifice it is to stand against the narrative, because not only do they try to take away your job, they may also try to take away your license to practice.
Courageous doctors like Dr. McCullough and Dr. Stone, who risk their careers to advocate for patient-centered care, serve as beacons of hope. Their dedication illuminates a path toward a more compassionate and autonomous medical practice, inspiring both professionals and patients to push for positive change in healthcare delivery.
Sincerely,
Dr. Philip McMillan

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
ETHICS
Dr. McCullough and Dr. Stone faced resistance for promoting early COVID-19 treatment protocols during the pandemic.
Fear of legal repercussions and professional isolation contributed to doctors' hesitancy to deviate from established guidelines.
The emotional toll on these physicians was profound, including feelings of isolation, depression, and public defamation.
Rebuilding trust within the medical community requires open dialogue and considering diverse medical opinions without fear of retribution.
Why is this important: Preserving medical autonomy and fostering open dialogue among physicians is crucial for effective patient care, especially during unprecedented crises. Penalizing doctors for exercising clinical judgment undermines trust within the medical community and hinders the development of innovative treatment approaches, ultimately jeopardizing the well-being of patients and the integrity of medicine.

MEDICAL RESEARCH
MicroRNA, discovered by Ambros and Ruvkun, is a noncoding RNA that controls gene expression by regulating protein-coding RNAs.
A single microRNA can regulate 10-100 protein-coding RNAs, making it a master regulator of the genome.
Dysfunctional microRNAs contribute to various diseases, including cancer, by altering multiple genes simultaneously.
Researchers are developing microRNA-based treatments, focusing on improving delivery to target cells and enhancing stability in the body.
Why is this important: Groundbreaking research on microRNA opens new avenues for treating various diseases, including cancer. By harnessing these master regulators of gene expression, scientists are developing innovative therapies that target multiple genes simultaneously. This approach promises more effective treatments with potentially fewer side effects, revolutionizing our understanding of genetic control and disease management.

COVID-19
COVID-19 history doubles the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death for up to three years after diagnosis.
Hospitalized COVID-19 patients face higher cardiovascular risks than those with a previous history of heart disease.
People with blood types A, B, or AB are twice as likely to experience adverse cardiovascular events post-COVID-19.
The study analyzed data from 227,735 people, including 10,005 who had COVID-19 between February and December 2020.
Why is this important: Groundbreaking research reveals COVID-19's far-reaching impact on cardiovascular health, doubling the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and death for up to three years post-infection. This finding underscores the need for enhanced preventive measures and long-term monitoring of COVID-19 survivors, especially those with non-O blood types, to mitigate potential cardiovascular complications.
HEALTH
Isometric exercises involve contracting muscles without joint movement, generating force and improving strength without dynamic motion.
These exercises engage specialized neurons, leading to high neural recruitment and potential strength gains.
Isometric training can reduce blood pressure and hypertension by improving blood flow and reducing arterial stiffness.
Studies suggest isometric exercises may be more effective for lowering resting blood pressure than high-intensity interval training.
Why is this important: Recent research r isometric exercises as a potent tool for cardiovascular health. By simply holding static positions, individuals can significantly reduce blood pressure and hypertension, potentially outperforming high-intensity interval training. This accessible, low-intensity workout offers substantial benefits with minimal time commitment, making it an attractive option for improving heart health.
